Privacy and consent
Privacy policy
This policy sets out what Windows Kingston collects through this site, why, and who sees it. This is a free referral service: we connect you with an independent local window, door or glass professional, who quotes and does the work. This draft is being reviewed by a lawyer before launch.

What we collect and what it's for
A request or message gives us the following, each for one purpose:
- Name, phone number and email: so we, and then the pro, can reply to you.
- The job address or town: so the request reaches a pro who covers it, from the west end to a cottage on Wolfe Island.
- Your description: the problem, rough sizes, whether you own, rent or manage the property, and any heritage designation, so the pro can plan the right glass and visit.
- Photos or files you choose to add.
- Your consent choices: the required sharing box, and the optional marketing box if you ticked it.
We use it to pass on your request, follow it up if it stalls, answer questions, record what you agreed to and improve the service. We never sell it. The federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) governs how we handle it.
Which pros receive your request
Your request, contact details, address and photos go to an independent local pro whose work fits the job. Depending on the job, that pro is:
- a glass shop or glazier (thermal units, broken panes, sash and cut glass);
- a window and door installer or dealer;
- a window screen, screen door or storm window specialist;
- a shower-glass or mirror installer; or
- a commercial glazing contractor (storefronts, lobby doors).
Jobs on Wolfe Island or outside the city may go to a regional pro who travels there. If the first pro can't take a job, we may send it to a second; you can ask which business has it. Each pro is a separate business, responsible for your information under its own privacy obligations once it has it.
Our hosting, form, email, texting and analytics providers process information for us under contract. Some keep data outside Canada, including in the United States, where authorities there may be able to reach it. We'll also disclose information where the law requires it or to stop fraud.
Your photos and address
Photos show the pro the glass, frame and opening before a visit, so they travel with your request and we keep a copy on file. Leave people and paperwork out of the frame. We delete photos and your address with the rest of the record, or sooner if you ask; the pro keeps its own copy, so ask the pro too.
Email, texts and calls
Messages from us or the pro about your request stay on that subject. Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) treats a request as permission to message you about it for a limited period only; it isn't permission to market to you, and we don't use it that way (CRTC guidance on implied consent). Tips and offers go only to people who tick the separate, unticked box, and every commercial email or text names its sender and offers a way to unsubscribe.
To stop follow-up calls after a quote, tell us or the pro. A business that phones people must keep its own do-not-call list and add you when you ask (National Do Not Call List rules); if you tell us, we'll pass it on.
Your rights, retention and contact
Request records stay only while we need them for the request, follow-up, consent records and legal duties; then we delete them or strip out what identifies you. Only people who need the information can reach it.
You may ask what we hold about you and who has received it, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent and have it deleted, apart from records the law makes us keep. Withdrawing consent can't recall a request a pro already holds, so we'll name the business for you to contact. If you're unhappy with our response, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada takes complaints.
PIPEDA is in force as this is written. Its proposed replacement, Bill C-36, was introduced in June 2026 and hadn't passed; if the law changes, we'll revise this page and its date.
Send privacy questions or requests through our contact page. The terms of use cover the referral service, how it works walks through each step, and requests start on the quote form.
